Pier Aquatics 1st Visit.
Managed my 1st trek from Sunny London to Pier Aq yesterday.
WOW, what a place, very very impressed.
Bear in mind Ive worked in the trade & Kept fish for 20 years I still sore at least 5 different species of fish that Ive never seen before!
Would like to thank Mat?, Tracy & Neil in particular for the coffee, making me feel welcome and taking the time to show me round the place -I could easily have missed some of the wonderful specimens there.
Spent a few £££ but really could have spent an absolute fortune!!
Big thanks again all & hope to be up again in the future.

Yes, everyone that listens to my ramblings about the place but haven't visited thinks that I'm exagerating. But it's an amazing place.
And I certainly resemble the "Could've spent a lot more"...

Agreed - great place, great people, great fish.
Did Neil happen to show his own rays in the private room? Amazing fish.

brilliant. I'ts a must for me if I'm ever up that area of the country. I've seen some of the pictures of it on their website and the Room with a View article - looks amazing. What were the prices like there?

I can only really speak for plecs, but I think the prices are great. A good comparison would be their current price of £32 for a 15-20cm/6-8" Hemiancistrus subviridis aka L200, compare to your normal LFS.Harry94 wrote:What were the prices like there?

Re: Pier Aquatics 1st Visit.
And that's the other thing... the size of the fish for the price. Where else would you find L200 at that size?...matthewfaulkner wrote: 15-20cm/6-8" Hemiancistrus subviridis aka L200, compare to your normal LFS.
If you are looking for a particular fish my advice is talk to Neil about what you are after. From him you get a realistic picture of the time of year they are available and invaluable tips on how best to keep them. Bear in mind he's a busy man and thousands of fish literally pass through his hands. I've learned so much from this chap. And although he is sometimes misunderstood, I find he is one down-to-earth plain-talking nice guy.

Re: Pier Aquatics 1st Visit.
And L91 5-6" are also £32 each (at least the ones I bought were listed at that - since I bought 5 at a time, I got a small discount). Compare that with fish roughly half the size at £45 around here.
