How to keep a doradid (Acanthodoras cataphractus)?

Post by redbullfish2 »

I'm new to this site, so i'm not sure where to post this question.

I really like chocolate doradids so far i had two of them the first one lasted two monthes then i got a second one and lasted like a week.
So my question is are they hard to keep meaning do they have special water conditions are anything?

I checked out the info on the page.I will give you the details on the tank.
Its a 29 gallon moderatly planted with a nice size piece of drift wood.
The params are ammonia 0 nitrite 0 nitrate 05ppm ph 6.2-6.4.The temp is at 76 F. which hardly ever changes.
The stock is as follows 5 skirt tetras 4 swordtails 2 albino corys
1 panda cory 2 peppered cory 1 pleco.
I think sometimes it may just be where i get them from.
Any help is appreciated Thanks!!!

The tank sounds fine, but it's hard to say for sure.

Sometimes a photo of the tank helps to spot really obvious things, that you may not have given much attention to.

This might include, for example: the substrate, the lighting, the tank backing, the amount of shelter etc.

P.S. you may now also want to change the title of the thread to something more informative to catch doradid people's attention. Something like "How to keep a doradid (Acanthodoras cataphractus)?".

Hope hope this helps.

I have edited the title of the thread. For future reference, if you don't know where you should post something, it's still best to use a title that describes the subject of the post. A moderator can move a post that is in the wrong place, and it's actually easier to spot misplaced posts if the title describes the content.
