Micro symbols in submitting data.

Post by Shovelnose »

If micro symbols (°, μ etc) are used while submitting data, the following error springs up.

Major: Now what's this... stone, stone, stone, (looks down at his hand) and scissors. Now. Scissors cut everything, don't they?
Sergeant: Not stone, sir.
Major: They're very good scissors!!

Looks like your image isn't working. For degrees, use "°", for micro, use "µ"

Note: The above reply doesn't mean that there isn't something Jools needs to fix somewhere!

Not sure what the actual problem is here (as it would appear the image to show what the problem is was never working correctly).

I certainly submit data with degree signs (without translating them). I'd like to know exactly what message is given (copy & paste the text works better than taking pictures) and what the string is that is entered, and what field it is entered into.

Hey Mats,

I am unable to recollect what the error message was. I checked in my Picasa and I don't have the screenshot saved either.

You wanna move this to Resolved until this message is encountered again???

Yes, if we can't figure how how it happened, I think we need to wait for it to happen again, and then I'll have a look at it. It's probably relatively easy to fix [or it needs "fixing" by properly manipulating the input - sometimes that's what is necessary - but I'd prefer something that doesn't involve remembering and spotting special characters in the text and replacing them with something else!].

If you have a similar problem, post again in the bugs section (and try to make a copy'n'paste from the browser window rather than a screen shot!
