Pier Aquatics sponsored head shave

Post by wrasse »

I think its important that as many customers as possible of Pier know about this... and with Neil's permission I've copied this over from the Pier website.

'As a few of the regular people that visit the shop know the horrible subject of Cancer has reared its ugly head..
On this note Neil .. Matthew...and Anthony have decided to shave their heads for Cancer research.
Please come in and sponsor us !!!!!!'

I hear it all happens on the 2nd Oct.

even I was smart enough NOT to insert any jokes here.....

I was at Neils a little more than a year ago and met Neil, his wife and the rest of the shop crew

it was a very happy bunch back then, just 13 months ago.

cancer threw a whoppin big wrench in there.......very sad, very bad.

cancer leads to involuntary hairloss (well, not the disease itself, but the medications to fight it cause that), so this is a very deep gesture out of solidarity and love for the one who has no choice whatsoever in loosing/keeping any hair......

not a joking matter at all!

Neil & family; you got my support!

Wrasse, any idea how the sponsoring thing will eventually work?
they're collecting and then do the haircut?
like people who join a marathon sponsoring a charity, kind of?

I'm certain Andrew didn't mean to cause any offence.

It's the same kind of thing. I imagine they'll collect after the event as well.

As someone who has a close appreciation of a relative(s) with Cancer, i can only say a massive well done & thank you to anyone promoting & taking part in fund raising activities.

My thoughts are with the guys and gals at Pier and i hope it is a huge success. (my only regret is i have a previous committment otherwise attendance would have been a given)

Two years ago we lost wife's mother to cancer and now we have lost her step-father to it as well. Cancer is no respecter of persons and sometimes takes the best. Currently, my younger sister is going thru treatment for it as well. Yes she has lost all her hair too.

My son was diagnosed with cancer when he was 18 months old and was lucky enough to beat it. Today he has 4 children, all healthy. Not every case is fatal but treatment takes it's toll, not only on the affected but the entire family as well.

As a stroke survivor and one that has lost family members, I get up each day thankful I yet live. The most important thing I can do is "to live like you were dying".

I wish you a speedy recovery.
