Sounds great. Do you know what species they are?

no idea; both are quite hard to determinate

the Brycinus are from the Congo; the Amphilius from Nigeria.

they're not atesuensis, since they completely lack the "saddles" on the back; they're uniform greyish brown with a fine dark spotted pattern superimposed on the brown.

there's a hint of a light stripe on the lateral line

cool! I never suspected you to be a regular planetcatfish visitor :D

another face to know then

Arjan (username Kruseman)'s the one with the short hair, I was the one with the long hair and Marc was the one with the very short hair
;)

edit:
a bit of a setback: despite the careful waterchange from bagwater to tankwater, the biggest and most brown Amphilius was on its' back on the sand.....
:(
no trace of the other, so I hope it's just hiding

the other fish are doing better

the characins (brycinus imberi or macrolepidotus) are slowly coloring up, although i made a mistake by emptying 3 bags in 1 bucket for the waterchanging last night.
the big un had an oppertunity in damaging the other 2 and did so.
now they're in with the large shoal Raiamas christyi and don't even look at each other.
all 3 have eaten already, flake and Gammarus

the Rhamdia's are frolicking around and eating like pigs, they're fine.
very active too.

today the small Amphilius suddenly popped out of a crevice when I was feeding the fish

happy to see it alive and feeding, but a bit less happy about how thin it is when viewed from the side

also: the tail is in tatters and I've spotted the culprits; turns out my once very peaceful Gobiocichla wonderi are turning quite agressive and they pounded on the tiny catfish several times.

they also attack the barbs (raiamas) and the Synodontis brichardi.

Nice catch you have :-BD

I hope the other Amphilius will survive and get some belly too. Last winter I tried my luck with two Phractura cf. clauseni but both of them died. They were eating well but as you guys know these are one of the hardest genus to keep alive.

I'm a bit interested about those Brycinus spp., I bought many of them from Oliver Frank year ago and got B. imberi and B.macrolepidotus, also still undescribed(I sent some fin clips to Melanie Stiassny, waiting an answer this autumn) red finned Brycinus sp. from Congo. Do you have any photos of them?

And I really love Raiamas christyi ^:)^ , my all time favorite schooling fish. I got more than 20 at the moment and love to get more. Last time at OF I bought all of them.

I've been planning a trip to OF again but it has been worst summer ever, hopefully I get time before christmas.

I sorta gave up on these, because 1 died so quickly and the other was de-finned by the Gobiocichla, but I was surprised to see the second one again

fins healed a bit, feeding eagerly and growing

hopefully I can get some more in the future, but laying hands on Amphilius is still very very hard.
