catfish suitable for a discus biotope.
which catfish are suitable for a discus biotope? i mean catfish from the same region that can handle discus water conditions eg. high temp, blackwater.
also which characin species are collected alongside discus?

if you just mean the same river... discus are found in many, they're a fairly widespread specis and can be found in tributaries and rivers from Negro to Xingu, as for their specific collection sites, that is much more exact and I can't help you, but if you just mean the same river, share the species/subspecies and we can give you a river most likely, most of which will have a very good selection of fish to choose from. If you're going for the strictest sense, you might e-mail someone who's a known collector and ask them what they've caught alongside the discus

yes i just mean the same river, nothing too specific. i just want a general selection of species found in the same habitat as discus. maybe just rio negro species?

Much easier... Off the top of my head I can only think of one pleco from Negro, that's L168 or the butterfly pleco, I'm sure there are cories and other catfish from the river though, and I may grab a book and see what it lists a bit later. For tetras I can suggest Rummy-nose tetras, there are probably many others... but after Wattley has drilled into my skull about rummy-nose every month in his column, they're the only ones I can remember.
