L 443 is C. dorsale and L 444 is C. formosae
As originally pointed out by Mats in this thread:
http://www.planetcatfish.com/forum/view ... 14&t=34651
C. formosae, Balen 2011 is in fact the fish previously known as .
Good to see such a common aquarium import described.
This paper also confirms that is in fact the other common Colombian Chaetostoma exported for the trade (in the US anyway). These two spp seem to always show up at retailers mixed together here. I suspect this is the case in Europe as well given their consecutive L numbers.
For some reason, we have an entry for and the same fish as .
So, in sum L 443 is C. dorsale and L 444 is C. formosae.
Two L numbers retired.

Yeah, right. Actually, perhaps, since these haven't actually had their L-numbers for long.Shane wrote:Two L numbers retired.
I will try to do the changes for this over the weekend - I will have to find some other fish to add as well to replace the existing ones.

It is, however, just plain nice to have the common rubbernose described. The fish has (even if the L number has not) been in the hobby as long as me.
Regarding fishes to add, I'm about to seek the ID of a darter on FB...

For ME to be able to replace it, it has to be a Loricariid, since I can't change the family... I was thinking of adding another Chaetostoma...Jools wrote:It is, however, just plain nice to have the common rubbernose described. [We really need the "delete species" feature now... But I guess I'd better finish writing it first ;) ]

Re: L 443 is C. dorsale and L 444 is C. formosae
Looks like I've changed everything over from L444 to C. formosae [Actually, changed C. formosae into C. branicki, and C. sp(L444) to C. formosae].
