Hello!

Post by waldo5310 »

My name is Patrick - I fairly new to catfish. I have 3 corydoras habrosus in my 15 gallon tank. They are fun fish.

I'm looking to add one or two small catfish to my tank. I found this site and was scrolling through and saw many small ones listed (an example is Akysis fontaneus or Parakysis notialis) but most of the small ones I found don't seem to be available for sale anywhere that I could find.

I'm hoping somebody has some ideas on a small catfish (2 inch or less and the smaller the better) I could add to my tank that I could actually find for sale and would be fairly easy to keep. I'm fine with having to order over the internet, my LFSs really don't have much.

Thanks for any suggestions.

This site is awesome by the way!!!

Hi Patrick, welcome to PC.

These might break your 2" mark, but not by much. Here's 4 to consider that show how different cats can be...

glass cats.
twig catfish - farlowella (bit longer, but no bigger than your average corydoras)
upside-down cats - synodontis nigriventris.
clown pleco - panaque maccus or peckoltia vittatus.

wrasse - Thanks for the information. Of the species listed on the site that are 2 inch or less are they just pretty much impossible to find for sale? Out of the 4-5 I looked up none seem to sell anywhere on the internet.

Thanks
Patrick

These can be found with some digging around, keep in mind many of these catfish compete for the same space.

I would actually consider adding to your group, they would be even more fun.

I also think you should add to the habrosus group. Corys do much better and are much happier when kept in groups.
