Post by MrGT500 »

i know that this is a catfish website but im hoping sombody here has an answer for me, in my 29 gallon semi aggressive tank there are 3 angel fish, 3 different types of gouramies a rainbow shark and an L21. i just looked at one of the bigger angels (body about the size of a half dollar) and noticed that he is missing his tail and parts of his other fins. i havnt noticed any problems and nothing has been chasing him that i have seen. a few weeks ago i had one that was the same kind just randomly die. any thoughts?

thanks you

Rainbow sharks and some gouramis can be notorious fin nippers. The sharks prefer to do their dirty work at night, so that may go unnoticed. Add to this the large fin size of angelfish, and it's a recipe for disaster.

they have all been in the tank for a while now, and i only just noticed the missing fins. but his tail is completely gone down to the stub, fin nipping usually leaves at least tattered fins. i was wondering if i should move him to my 20 gallon comunity tank, but im afraid that it will do more harm than good. the 20 has danios and baby tiger barbs in it, im just afraid they would stress him out.
