Page Not Found Error

Post by Shovelnose »

I am getting this error message when I click Edit on the species profile. Checked with multiple pages and the same error occurs.

I think this is one of Jools' recent changes. Should be easy to fix, and if Jools hasn't done it by the time I get home (in about 3-4 hours), I'll have a look at fixing it.

A workaround is to right-click the "Edit" button, and select "Copy link location", then paste the resulting link into the address bar:
like this:

Code: Select all

http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/_data_sub.php?species_id=1500
and then edit out the _ in front of data_sub, so that it looks like this:

Code: Select all

http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/data_sub.php?species_id=1500

Should now be fixed in all occurrences. Post if it's not!

I don't get the error message anymore but the screen is all weird now . I can't see the first row. I don't see an option to scroll down. Only sideways. Same problem with multiple pages.

I don't see this problem. Have you tried reloading the page (Shift-F5 or some such)?

Yup. No change. When Tab is used, the rows disappear under the "Search the Web for Conta pectinata" line. Could it be a browser problem??? I have been using Chrome without any issues thus far.

It is possible that it's a browser issue. I've used Firefox, and I just edited a species a few minutes ago.

I just tried the Conta pectinata as well, and it certainly shows the page correctly.

Use a different browser?

The strange things is that I don't believe any actual CODE on the site has been changed - Jools has just changed the actual name of the file that contains the code. That's like having a Word document called ABC.doc, and if you rename it to XYZ.doc, it stops working...

Mmm, not sure that's right Mats. I think the analogy is more around the content of the word document. Gut feeling (I will check it when I get home later tonight) but I reckon it's in the data. Try editing that specific species in that specific browser...

Just looked at it. There's an echo in there. Fixed and checked in, R727.

Yeah, that's probably my doing, I was just going to remove that... I had no intention submitting that code...
