Near Disaster averted!

Had to move my 10" H.Wyckloides out of the 8'6" Pond as it had started to attack some of the Bigger Cats & my Knifefish.
Moved her & went to check later to make sure everything was ok & couldnt find the beauty anywhere - que much panic & crawling around underneath the Pond brick piers (always a worry )with a few tones of water above your head, & found my HW covered in fluff & concrete dust but still breathing. Quickly returned her & 2 days later apart from several abrasions & split fins seems to be ok :YMPRAY: . Will keep my eyes open for secondary infections.

Seriously lucked out. I've been through this a few times.

In best guess, how long out of the water?

Hi Victor/ all.

Yes very very lucky for me & the fish!! ^:)^
I too have lost a few cats amongst others in the past that have broke free including a large TSN, Sperator Ac, large fire Eel, Big Snakehead etc that have manged to find a way out of the aquaria.
I moved the HW from the Big Pond temporarily into a 36" x 18" x 18" underneath the brick piers of the 750G (UK) pond.
Still not sure how it got out as there is a large glass cover weighted down with half bricks.
I would hazard a guess of no longer than a few hrs but could have been as many as 3-4hrs but i seriously doubt it.
I can only think that maybe it got out throug the 25mm drilled hole on the side of the aquaria that was used previously for a protein skimmer but is only an inch or so above the water line.
I've now blocked this off as well.

Hope she escapes any secondary infection.

I had a hoplo cat thread the needle a couple weeks ago. I came home to five cats crowded around staring at it. I thought she was a goner for sure. But I went to scrape he off the carpet and she twitched. I got an insane amount of fuzz from her.body and she came through it with only very minor fin damage and some beat up barbels. Just glad the cats were well fed...

Any gap is a gap to many I suppose. They gotta keep us on our toes!
