raphael and corys?

Post by donniec »

Hi forum. This is my first post here and was reffered to this forum for all my catfish needs! I currently have a raphael and an albino bristlenose along with my pair of angels in my 30g. They are both about 3-4in in length and I'm wanting to add a school of about 5 corys into the tank. Will this be a problem? I'm worried that he may try and eat a cory overnight or if one swims into his buried pvc pipe

The raphael can be striped - Platydoras or closely related or spotted - Agamystis, but both will not eat corydoras if sufficienbtly large. Your 4 inch (=10 cm) fish would eat fish under 1,5 cm, say half an inch - but I never saw Corydoras offered that small

Platydoras grow to 20 cm - 8 inches and will not bother adult Corydoras, Agamystis get to 15 cm, 6 inches and will thus not bother them either

My concern is, however, the amount of fish in your 30 gallon US = 114 L tank. Count 40 liters for an angelfish (80 L for 2), 10 liters for the raphael and 10 for the Ancistrus, and the sum will be 100 liters

As your tank will contain substrate and so on, I think your tank contains plenty fish already
