Is this a L27 Goldline
Is this a L27 Goldline
Hi,
I recently bought what I thought was a L27 Goldline. However, some of my friends have told me it is really a "nice" L190. Can you please help anyone?
Thanks,
Brian

I think your friends are right, it's a , and a nice one. I hope you didn't pay too much for it.

Re: Is this a L27 Goldline
Thanks Matt. I paid about $600 for it, which is allot for a 190...not too happy. He acts like a 190 as well. Not as scared and hides less, I find then 27s get more spooked.
The small one I paid about $200, that is allot for a 190

Thanks Matt, yes I did, he told me to bugger off. To make matters worse I actually bought two of the small ones I posted, and about 15 of these really small ones. Total I spent was about $1300 or so. Now they are l190...probably worth at best $300 or so. This seller is a big seller too here in Toronto. He basically told me "too bad" I take the risks.
He is right, but for a guy that relies on the Internet to sell his fish .....I am surprised at the lack of principals.

Seems a bit tough. I mean, he clearly would know where he got the fish from - Xingu fish don't get exported out of Colombia that much...brianyam wrote:Thanks Matt, yes I did, he told me to bugger off. I am aware that it may be in bad taste and or against site rules but I think I would like to know the name and web site that you were dealing with. This may protect some of us from purchasing from them

This fish PC members was bought in person.
Maybe this is more a case of buyer not being aware and a seller who is clueless selling to a buyer who is clueless?
Good luck

I admit with royals I don't have much experience, but the seller (kam lau) is a pleco expert. Big seller in toronto. The point is, if he made a mistake id them then that is fine, I told him that. But now they are confirmed as only 190, u can't try and compromise on compensating me? I bought allot of stuff from him before, sone turned out good, some just ok - but I was bought...maybe he just got use to that. I don't know.

Re: Is this a L27 Goldline
I don't know Kam Lau, but most fish importers/sellers use a simple method of making up the selling price of the fish: Multiply the buying price by some number (and perhaps round it to a nice number). If that is the case, then what do you expect the seller to do when you say "It's not what you said it was" - it didn't cost the seller any less because it's got a different name?brianyam wrote:I admit with royals I don't have much experience, but the seller (kam lau) is a pleco expert. Re: Is this a L27 Goldline
If that were the case then any seller could use the same excuse if a buyer bought something that turned out differently. As a seller, he should make sure what he sells is what he says it is regardless of his import price. He should of gave crap to his wholeseller, not try and get back his money by reselling them. Since in the end, his whole seller is fine, he is fine but I am out of allot of money. Like I said, I know this is not home depot, there is no formal return policy. But I do believe we all do this with some basic understanding of trust and honour. This "too bad" I thought they were l27s sure he has his right to do that, but from the spirit of why we do this hobby, I don't think that is right.
Re: Is this a L27 Goldline
For example, what if a seller on planet catfish said he was selling small l600s. People buy them. But then it is apparent that they are really l14. Price differece is 2 to 3x. What can the seller do? He doesn't have to do anything. But if he is a good guy, he should fix the problem, and complain to his importer.that means trust. This kam lau guy basically is saying too bad so sad. That is fine, he can do that. But bad karma.

Re: Is this a L27 Goldline
It is clearly not good customer relations, but at the same time, as a buyer, you may want to check carefully that the fish are what you want, especially if you are paying out a lot of money - especially if you have previously had "wrong ID" fish from the seller. And I know of more than a few cases of exporters/wholesalers labeling fish wrong - whether on purpose or by mistake, I'm not so sure - bearing in mind also that this forum probably has among the finest collection of experts on any given catfish in the world, where someone selling a variety of fish of different kinds will probably not be expert on ALL of them.

Re: Is this a L27 Goldline
No, I didn't haveproblems before with this seller. But then it is the first time buying royals from him. Other fish are easier to id. And yes I agree no one can be right all the time. But I thought when it was confirmed they were not l27 he should of tried to do something. iw

I don't agree it's a L190....never seen a nigro who looks goldish/yellow. To my opinion it's a l27

Re: Is this a L27 Goldline
what i suggest is, if you are not sure of what you are buying, consult some of your friends who are good in that fish to confirm before purchasing or at least read up more on them.
