Can Anyone ID this

Post by cacichilds »

I bought this from my specialty shop

It was labeled as an Wild Caught African Wide Mouth Catfish - It's def not a Giraffe Catfish, but could it be a dwarf one? it's a cream base color and has copper colored markings. and 6 barbs in the mouth are.

Is African Wide mouth a species, or a name for something else?

It's slow growing for sure. It's 2 inches and feed 2x daily. I feel my fish a good varied diet, from busted up massivore pellets, krill, bloodworms, cut up nightcrawlers, sometimes peas or veggie flakes and the occasional sinking flower-horn food. Right now it's housed with group of panda & pygmy corys 1/2" and 2" Polypterus endlicheri endlicheri. It also is not aggressive in the slightest. As it could easily eat a pygmy cory
