Platystomatichthys Sturio and a Lima ShovelNose
Platystomatichthys Sturio and a Lima ShovelNose
Will a Platystomatichthys sturio and a Lima ShovelNose of the same size work well together in the same tank? I'm thinking of putting these two together in my pseuda tank. I also have some medium sized angel fish in there. How will they do.
Incidentally what do the P.sturios eat? Same as the Lima, feeder fish, meaty foods? Maximum size of the P. Sturio?
Regards,
Mike D.

man I hate sc. names
I have heard that you need faily brackish water for the stergeon. The limas I have and have heard of don't like highly brackish water. If they are the same size I don't think there would be issues as far as them eating each other. My limas are passive. I don't know on the stergeons though.

AFAIK the "brackish water" is bad advice!
It's a white water cat, from roomy rivers and very, very docile, even shy.
So, yes, it's a bit "passive" like the Lima. Good combination. NOTHING like the Pim pictus though, when talking activity or character!
It's one of those "claustrofobic" species, like Leiarus, Perrunichthys etc; wich means that the width of the tank must be greater than the span of both maxillary barbels, or he will be decidedly unhappy or stressed and somethimes starve to death....

Plan B should not automatically be twice as much explosives as Plan A
