Glass catfish: is it farmed?
I am looking for verified information as to whether or not the Asian glass catfish () is farmed. My sources tell me that they are all wild caught. Can anyone confirm if they are farmed?

Re: Glass catfish: is it farmed?
I just had a look at some stock lists here in the Netherlands. Some list them as farmed, others as wild sourced.

Good question. I'll ask my importer friends and report back with their answer.

I got an answer: The glass catfish they import into NJ are all wild caught.

Re: Glass catfish: is it farmed?
Thanks. I gathered overwhelming evidence that none of the glass cats in the trade are farmed.

I sense a great opportunity here. Time to start a farm. I suppose I have to give Silurus a cut of the profits for an intellectual consultant fee.

I'd be carefull, as far as I know, this fish has not been bred in captivity. Perhaps keeping them in a pond might help, but there is still a few unsolved questions with them

I've got a spawning report that I've been meaning to publish for a few months now. But it's the only one....

Indeed, I've only ever read one sketchy forum thread that seemed to fade away before any details were revealed. I'd love to see 1/2 inch glass cats.

PS Sadly can't be a CotM as there is already one for this species.
