- although what he parents are is uncertain, i'd say ocellifer & perhaps eupterus
Lou: Every young man's fantasy is to have a three-way.
Jacob: Yeah not with another fu**!ng guy!
Lou: It's still a three-way!

Sorry to use this topic, but the Eupterus thing is important. I've similar synodontis, which were said to me here, more than a year ago, these were hybrids. How long does it take for them to become similar to eupterus? mine were bough 3 years, 2 months since i bought them and still they look like that, spotted, no change, just grew a bit, they are no way near being considered huge and do not have upside down behabior, and were sold as Synodontis Valentiana. now people are saying that this is a species known as Synodontis vaillanti

others say it is a crossbread between S. multipunctatus and the S. decorus

There is a hybrid called 'valentine'.

Synodontis vaillanti is not a recognized species.

With Synodontis vaillanti it is a
Species inquirenda in Synodontis
Not that it is not recognized but that it is such an old description without the added evidence to go along with that it more or less would be impossible to ID.

As stated Valentine is used for some hybrids and this could have been misinterpreted.
How long does it take for them to become similar to eupterus?
That is the joy of hybrids it can most often be a guess to ID and it may not turn out as one would surmise when it comes to size and behaviour.
others say it is a crossbread between S. multipunctatus and the S. decorus
That guessing game could go on forever unless @racoll has an idea through his DNA study, I would be happy they stayed smaller and enjoy them for what they are.
