L211 breeding

Post by Ecrevince »

In October 2011, I succeed in getting 2 beautiful couples of L211 peckoltia sp. "Tiger Rondonia" in direct (or almost) from Ji Parana, Brasil.

I acclimatized them in a collective tank of 600l.
Already in age of breeding, they dispute tubes 3hrs after their arrival.

few month later, I losted one couples for reason which I am unaware of.

Some pics of a male a little less timid:

I could note that they are eating of all type of food: worms, mussels, cucumbers, etc… and they also like to grate the coconut shell placed in the tank.

At the ending of May 2013, I'ld note a strong excitement around the tube of residence of the male. I felt that the moment had come of isolate them in breeding tank.
Immediately the male took one of the two tubes at his disposal.

During about one month, I was abundantly feeding them.

I gradually lowered the temperature of 30°C to 24°C, then made lot of change of 20% of water with some water of reverse osmosis water.

And it was good :d

The male stuck) the female at the bottom of the tube during long hours, at least until the extinction of the lights (and maybe even much later?).
The next day I observed that the male ventilated in front of the tube.

I waited 7 days and I got back alevins, well I thought that it would be alevins.
In reality I took out in nursery the grape of eggs and 2 newborns.

I had during the 3 hours which followed the luck to see opening one after the other 42 alevins!! :)) :)) :))
