Hi!!

I am fairly new to the aquarium world and I have finally set up my aquarium to run properly (phew!!). I have a 25 gallon tank with a large fantail and a medium oranda goldfish and I now have a smaller oranda in quarentine. I was thinking of adding a small group of cories (perhaps 3 arched) and a weather loach (or 2!) to the tank- what do you all think?? I keep my tank at about 72 degrees so it should be warm enough?? Also, my quarentine protocol involves about 3 weeks of 0.3% salt (1 tbsp per gallon) and Life Bearer for flukes and lice once a week for 3 weeks- I did read that cory and loaches are sensitive to salt- is this protocol OK for them?? I also have salt in my aquarium- 1/2 tbsp per gallon (gold fish are tough fish to keep and salt helps with the stress and with general life!) They are messy fish who miss a lot of food so I would like to have some cute scavengers to help me out!! Thank you for your help!!!

Welcome aboard,

Cory's are not intolerant of salt but the amount you are talking about may cause some distress.

Thanks for the fast reply Coryman!!

Is the 1/2 tbsp/gallon too much for corys as well?? It really seems to be best for the goldfish but I could probably decease it to 1 tsp/gallon-is that any better or is there any other scavengers you can suggest that can handle that level of salt? Also, what do you do when quarentining your corys, is there any meds you use??

Thanks again
