Tiger Pleco with bold stripes

Post by Stefan2013 »

I just bought this lovely tiger Pleco and would like to find which L number it might be. It is around 3 inches long at present and cost £25 from my LFS.

Looks really similar to my Itaituba tiger plecos which have been identified as L140.

It's also possible it is L38 which is very similar. Do you know the collection location?

Hi Andy, I shall go back to the shop and ask but I'm not sure how much they know.
I'll ask and post the reply. It is striking though and I think I'm very lucky.

It's a beauty, certainly one of the complex. It may not be possible to get the exact source and precise L number for the fish, but just for general care of a single fish, you can just assume it's . It's only when you set up breeding groups and passing on fry that you need to be concerned about which river/population they come from.

I've just looked a few of these in line and there is great similarity, thank you. So L015 seems to be the most likely candidate.
Thank you very much for your help guys.

I hadn't intended to set up a breeding pair but I am always interested in learning about my fish and ensuring they get the best care.

Your help is really appreciated.
