Pictus lookalikes?

Post by fishay12 »

Is there any catfish in the that looks like a pictus but can be kept in a 26 gallon? I just like the long-barbel look.

Have you tried sorting the Cat-eLog by size?

The smallest of the Pimelodidae = Long-barbelled catfish is 38 mm: http://www.planetcatfish.com/common/fam ... mily_id=15

Heptapteridae are close to Pims in appearance. Smallest 24 mm http://www.planetcatfish.com/common/fam ... mily_id=30

I tried but it would not work for me. I cannot find either of these and the links are not working.

I am not sure about availability in your part of the world but the following are small & available from time to time

- also other species - marthae, imitator...
- also other species...

Any of these take your fancy?
Lou: Every young man's fantasy is to have a three-way.

I think Mystus carcio is a good replacement. This species is quite hardy and regularly available in the trade as well.

Major: Now what's this... stone, stone, stone, (looks down at his hand) and scissors. Now. Scissors cut everything, don't they?
Sergeant: Not stone, sir.
Major: They're very good scissors!!
