Breeding Project Leporacanthicus cf. galaxias L240

Post by Nuno Landeck »

I'm working in a Breeding Project Leporacanthicus cf. galaxias L240.
I have 4 Leporacanthicus cf. galaxias L240 with 4,5" / 5,5" and I am preparing an aquarium with about 75" x 16" x 16" , I put no sand, but I'll get one or two woods and caves in various circular. I have two indoor filtrus about 1000tls, one at each end of the aquarium.
I would appreciate ideas to help me with this project, since I have no experience in breeding L's.
What is the ideal ph for breeding??

Hello!

I've been breeding them with a pH around 6,2- 7,2. They prefer a temperature around 28 when breeding.
I would fed them a lot juring some weeks, if the female looks gravid, raise the temp to around 28 and make some more whaterchages and vacum cleand the gravels a few days before this...

They are much more easy to breed than L91....

Good luck!

Hello!

I think they should be around 15 cm SL! (perhaps they can be smaller) I've bred L241 that been around 12 cm TL!!!

Cave size depend on the size of the male!
Give them two caves to shoose with! Juring breeding they can have some cave try out before spawning! I had a pair laying in one cave and after one night they spawned in the other one.

Sorry to bring this old thread back but anyone else or anyone in the US ever breed L240?

What size tank? dimensions? whats your temp? I have about 6 of these guys all about 6 to 8" long, some looks very gravid but no luck yet. I have them on 75 gal with two aquaclear, driftwoods and caves.

Should I add powerhead to get more water movement? I have my temp up to 80, im going to increase it to 82.

Thanks
