Species name etymology for a couple of pangasiids

Post by lfinley58 »

Hello.

Below are a couple of etymologies for pangasiid species names which are currently in the Cat-eLog.

1. Helicophagus leptorhynchus: "From the Greek leptos (slender)and rhynchos (snout), in reference to the relatively slender snout of this species." - From the original description.

2. Pangasius conchophilus: "The name conchophilus, a combination of the Latin concho (shell) and philus (loving), refers to the pronounced molluscivory of this species." - From the original description.
