Both nice looking synos!
The second one looks like a good candidate for S. macrops to me, but you already have one listed, or is it your provisional ID of this specimen?

N0body Of The Goat to me initially I see a fish that does not seem as high bodies as the other, also blunter at the mouth. A big thing for me though is the length of the pectoral fins...the spines are very long with an added filament that extends well into the pelvic fins...much longer then the other fish which is in very good shape swimming in one of my tanks....and both being males this can not be a form of sexual dimorphism. Coloration though is very similar as well as the humeral and the markings...I will give it some time to settle in and see if this affects the fishes look.

Oh...and I am beginning to doubt my call on macrops being the species of the other... macrops has a very limited distribution it always is nagging in my thoughts. Also these fish turn up with shipments of Synodontis nigrita...possibly another clue.

Re: a couple new syno's for me
It has been brought to my attention that it does also look very much like the live specimen in haugi...color and size of spots are slightly different with the live picture though...also the humeral does not match the preserved specimen pictures in the Cat-eLog....but the preserved specimens humeral do match with Poll(1971) everything says they have small spots though, but the preserved specimen has a different pattern...nothing is ever straight forward....the captions(which have got slightly messed up lately) seem messed up, I do not think the live shots belong to Jon Friel...
