What size are these fish, they look like juveniles to me, which would make true identification almost impossible.

They kinda look like my C. Leucomelas to me! But littler ones.

They were about 3 cms. long

If these fish have arrived in a commercial shipment they are unlikely to be C. surinamensis because there are no commercial collectors/shippers in Surinam. At 3 cm these fish are juveniles and could be C. agassizii, C. robustus, C. ambiacus, C. leucomelas or even a dozen others.
