Ancistrus katebeckinsalei
I can't find this fish anywhere on this site, obviously an entirely new spieces so I have named it after one of my mentors who has been of enormous help in my fishkeeping career...
I've had this fish for about 8 years it's size is about 70 mm I guess after that time it is fully grown...

Re: Ancistrus katebeckinsalei
Although it looks unique I believe I have seen a similar fish (although I could be mistaken). Do you have any data about the collection sigh of the fish? Is the length SL or TL? do you find it to lean more towards meaty or herbivorous foods?
I can stop keeping catfish whenever I want. I just don't think I'll ever want to do that...

Re: Ancistrus katebeckinsalei
Hallo thank you for the reply, sorry no information on the collection site, that would be total length, and it seems to prefer herbivorous food, although some brine shrimp granuals are taken.
Very shy and hard to get a good photo of, it is in a heavily planted tank...

I take it your mentor isn't the actress Kate Beckinsale who starred in the Underworld movies and Van Helsing, among others?

I'm not even sure it's an Ancistrus. Can you post more pics please?

Re: Ancistrus katebeckinsalei
Thank you for that, it doesn't seem to match any of those, the size for one thing is small 70-75mm,
I have had it for at least eight years and there hasn't been much increase in size so it would appear to be fully grown?
I will try to get some better pictures today....

Re: Ancistrus katebeckinsalei
You can't see it very well in the picture, but Lasiancistrus would have a longer, more lunate caudal.

Re: Ancistrus katebeckinsalei
Can you get us a picture of it's mouth? That time line would put it about the same time Ancistrus claro were last exported and I just purchased 5 contaminants from recent imports that look pretty similar. I will try to get a few pictures.

Re: Ancistrus katebeckinsalei
Mama, mia, what a lush underwater jungle! Paradise for the fish but would be a nightmare for me not being able to see them. To each its own. Gorgeous tank though.
