Granulosa

Post by jim barry »

Hi all
First post on this site. I am a ray keeper and normally hang out on MFK.
I purchased a Syno labelled as a Granulosa. I researched before buying and realise there are many hybrid versions around.
The LFS i bought it from stated it is a wild caught specimen and it had a price tag to match. Obviously everyone on MFK is speculating that i have potentially purchased a hybrid.
Hard to get good shots of him at the moment as he was kept in an unlit sump in the shop and i am tryi ng to get him use to the lights in my sump where i want to grow him/her out for a year or so. Currently around 3" max at the moment.

Hi & welcome to PC

Although it's not a great photo, from what I can see it doesn't obviously look like a hybrid.

I understand that someone in the US has had success tank breeding these which is the only successful source of T/B in the US & only the second successful raising I can be relatively sure of. If it's wild caught it would be a touch small compared to the W/C I've seen - is that 3" max total or standard length? (including tail or not)
Lou: Every young man's fantasy is to have a three-way.
Jacob: Yeah not with another fu**!ng guy!
Lou: It's still a three-way!

Thanks for the welcome and the feed back!

I would say that is max length from head to tail.

When i was researching i read of a guy who had succesfully bred them, think it was here in the UK. But i can't recall the name now.

I need to get some better pics of him when he is fully settled, only had him 3 days and he has only just started moving around the sump more, so hopefully get some better shots of him soon.

What i can say is that he/she has all the traits i read about and to look out for, including VERY white whiskers.
