Go big or go home right?

Post by catfishchaos »

Hello every one!

Today marks a rather significant day for a few reasons. First and foremost its Remembrance day in Canada (Lest we forget). Secondly its my birthday! I've made it to the big 18 and in all honesty I went a little crazy celebrating by treating myself to some of those damn addictive things we celebrate on this forum :YMPARTY:. I've placed an order with Oliver Lucanus from Below water and and the following fish arrive on Friday night! The order contains a pair of , A group of 5 and lastly (and most expensively...) a group of 6 ! I will be putting pictures on this thread once I get a chance to photograph them (with that said that said please do not expect the same quality photos Oliver takes) but after that I will be making individual threads for each species in the apropriate forum to monitor their progress, growth and fingers crossed, reproduction! I can't tell you how excited I am, and for dignity related reasons I can't find it in myself to share the price just yet :-??

Stay tuned!

Regards
James

Awesome choices. That is one great birthday present (or actually 13!).

Now if any of those cats start spawning, you'll need another birthday to afford the extra aquaria needed to grow out the fry!

Cheers, Eric

Well If were being honest I have tanks coming out of places they shouldn't so thats not a huge problem Eric but food on the other hand...

Any way they arrived last night and I was up until 5:00 Am with them on the drip. I put them all into the same bucket to drip and then once that was done I moved the into my 55 gallon and put the 6 and the pair of into the 29 gallon for now, the arrived much larger than I thought they would be and the did his best to grab a male and female (one massive one missing a pectoral fin but still has the pectoral spine so it should grow back) and the "male" is a little smaller and darker. When I took them out of the bag I honestly thought they were dead! they just tumbled down to the bottom like a heavy dead leaf. I have a video of it but the were using the curled up to hide under and within. The were all just scuttling around in the mean time. I'll get a video of them up on youtube as soon as I can but for now enjoy these pictures!

I think I'll give them one more day of minimal light to settle down (I turned it on for photos and turned it off after). I'll be making thread for the progress of each individual species in the appropriate forum but I might do some generalized updates here.

Thanks Eric! I need to grab some really small ceramic caves for the Centromochlus I want to see how quickly they'll spawn (though I'm aware I might be in for a wait with such fresh imports).

Mine spawned in bamboo caves cut from 1 inch diameter bamboo poles which I bought at a garden store... Very affordable.

I'll see if I can pick any of those up today, theres a garden center right across from my work so I'll see if they have anything like that there.

Just thought I would give everyone a small update, besides the ich out break caused by the everyone is doing just fine!

I tried offering the and the some repashy but they didn't budge so I put it into the pleco tank (where it was demolished in 10 mins tops) and I'm going to try again with some frozen thawed blood worm and jumbo mysis shrimp for the

Anyway here are the acting goofy, I find they are surprisingly active, always in a new hole in the sand every morning.

Last one, two species equally ignoring the repashy...
