Error obtained when navigating to genus-level CLOG pages on mobile phone

Post by bekateen »

Hi Jools,

This is a rather specific, and thus probably trivial, bug report. But I'll let you know about it, in case it has implications later on.

I was viewing the website on my Windows 10 mobile phone. I was on the CLOG page for and everything looked good. From that page, I clicked on the link to move up to the genus page for , and I obtained the following error across the top of the page, displayed above the menu tabs (Admin, CotM, Cat-eLog, etc.):
  • [phpBB Debug] PHP Warning: in file /home/webcat/planetcatfish.com/common/genus.php on line 278: Invalid argument supplied for foreach()
[phpBB Debug] PHP Warning: in file [ROOT]/includes/functions.php on line 5304: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at [ROOT]/includes/functions.php:3909)
[phpBB Debug] PHP Warning: in file [ROOT]/includes/functions.php on line 5304: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at [ROOT]/includes/functions.php:3909)
[phpBB Debug] PHP Warning: in file [ROOT]/includes/functions.php on line 5304: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at [ROOT]/includes/functions.php:3909)
I tested the error by repeating the operation from a couple of other genera within the Glyptosterninae; I received error messages when I tried the same navigation from a species to the genus within the and from a species to the genus within the genus , but I did NOT get the error when I navigated from a species to the genus within the genus . Wierd, huh?!

Also, I tested the same navigation (from to ) on an iPhone 6 running Safari and I obtained the same error message.

Finally, I tested the same navigation on my laptop (running Win 7 and IE 11); I did NOT get the same error when I navigated from to the genus page for on my laptop.

Cheers, Eric

Interesting! I see the same error, it has something to do with the calcs around number of keepers. Why this on shows an error on mobile devices is a mystery - will check it out...

Even more interesting, yes, really, it is to do with the width of the viewing window. Even if you view it on a computer, if you resize the browser window to the size of a phone, the errors appear.

No idea why, looking into it...

OK, so there were two things at play here. Firstly, the way the layout is designed, the header bar blocks out the error message (the error is "underneath"), however when parts of the header aren't show for the mobile narrow screen, then we see the error. It was always there.

It was there on this page and not most others because it happens when there are no registered keepers for all the species in the genus. Well worth fixing this one as many of the genus pages on AR have no keepers.

Good spot, one bug squished!
