RTC eyes

I have a red tail catfish and while I was watching it swim a white spot in it's eye.Is it normal for a small/young one or not?what is this?

Welcome to the Planet!

Healthy RTC, as other fish, should have clear eyes. Provide picture(s) if you will. It may be an injury, an inborn defect, an infection, poor water parameters, etc.

That's a pretty hard pic to work with.

If the cloudiness is only in one eye, I'd guess an injury. If both eyes are affected, it is more likely to be water parameters and/or the ensuing infection. In good water and in the absence of any other stress factors, should clear up on its own.

What are your water parameters - ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, pH, temp, hardness, salinity, etc.? The first three need to be measured by a liquid test tube kit. As for the other paramaters, are they stable?

In addition to non-zero ammonia and nitrite and too much nitrate (over 20-40 ppm), too much light, inadequate aeration, bullying by tank mates, sick tank mates, etc. are some of the most prevalent stress factors.
