Farlowella curtirostra compatibility.
Don't see a lot of people keeping the different varieties outside of F.vittata, is there a reason for that or are they just not common. I picked up a short nose today at my local oddball store. Not finding much information on them. She's already settled in and is hanging out on the front of the glass.
I do have her in with some banjos, an upside down, and a clown pleco, i'm not aware of any aggression problems this could cause but that's why i'm checking. I also picked up some massive albino BA tetra but i'm hoping they'll leave her be.

Re: Farlowella curtirostra compatibility.
Most people won't spend too much time id-ing farlowella & will go with the name on the label in the store. There shouldn't be any issues with the fish you list with perhaps the soon to be added BA tetra which are inquisitive & can be a bit fin-nippy. That said it is more often centred around open water swimmers with significant finnage not crepuscular hiders like the catfish you've listed. Just keep an eye on things...

Re: Farlowella curtirostra compatibility.
Hi,
I keep and breed a Farlowella species which should be F. curtirostra (three rows of abdominal plates and very short rostrum). I keep them together with Corydoras spp. and some whiptails without any problems, most of the time they ignore each other completely.
Cheers,

Re: Farlowella curtirostra compatibility.
The majority found for sale are F. vittata and, I think, the others that are available are hard to ID.

Re: Farlowella curtirostra compatibility.
Thanks for the heads up. The BA's only concerned me about their nippiness but with all the wood and plants in the tank I agree it probably won't be an issue.
I saw that some of the species look rather similar, guess I got lucky with the short nose, they stand out pretty well. If I wanted to breed them, I would need another of the same species correct? I haven't seen anything on hybrids. Hopefully my store gets some more in.
