Hi

Ive been told its a Syno eupterus but need to make sure, I know the pics are not close enough and not focused as much as I'd like them to be. So any help would be appreciated, Thanks

I agree - my first thought was Synodontis sp.(5), but upon closer inspection, I'll agree on the S. eupterus.

Thanks Plesner but having seen the pics of syno sp. 5, I would like to know what the difference is between syno eupterus and syno sp. 5? They look soo much alike.

Sivarias hi . how many did you purchase.?
There does seem to be some variations there ,whether male/female I donâ??t know.
Can you got a Picture of each one individually?

DeLBoD: I purchased 7 of them a week before christmas. At first glance I thought they were network cories and bought them. But when I brought them home, I looked at them closer and they just didn't look like a cory anymore! I still love to watch them play and swim upside down. Will be purchasing a larger tank soon and giving away a few of them to my brother.

I will try to get a close up picture of one tomorrow, I can't tell the 7 apart except that one is a tad bit fatter and bigger than the rest of them.

You may need rather a large Aquarium to house those cats when they are adults.(180 Gallon TBH)
The larger syno may be a female or just dominant for food but thats just a hunch.

I have 6 S.eupterus 4 in one tank and 2 in the other, sorting out the bullies is the trick here I think.

a 180 sounds good actually, I'm planning on a custom built one at the moment but it will be atleast 5-6 months down the line. Do you think these cats will be alright until then? BTW what were the variations you were talking about earlier?

DeLBoD: Would a 180 be sufficient for atleast 4-5 of them? or should i go for a tad bit bigger?

If you can get bigger the better.

You may notice at first that they are happy to rest together ,but as they get older they start to become more territorial and may fight.
This fighting is normal for S.Eupterus as they rarely damage each other(I have been stabbed by there pectoral spines) so donâ??t be alarmed to much just provide adequate hiding places.
