I'm assuming you are talking about a synodontis when you say 'talking catfish'. But most probable that your catfish is reacting to the malachite green by producing lots of mucus. All 'naked' catfish (fish without scales) cannot deal with malachite green full strength. I would do an immediate 50% water change and stop there. I am also assuming that you have clearly determined that it is ick that you are dealing with? if so, raise the temperature to between 80 -90ºF depending on what your fish can handle, and increase the amount of oxygen x2. Then I would wait and see if the mucous production abates. If that works and you still see spots, then I would go by "ridich" (which has worked for me in the past), or, attempt another "1/2" dose with the malachite green. Read your labels very carefully. Good luck.

Welcome to the Planet!

Talking would more likely refer to a Doradid, most likely a raphael.

What are your water parameters? Why were you treating the tank? What dose did you use? Etc.

The more you tell us, the more we can help and the opposite is true true.

These lists are from a different forum but IMHO the rules are universal:
