20 gallon breeding setup

Post by Nativeguy »

Hey everyone! I have space for a 20 gallon on my rack, and I was wondering what you think about a few options.
Banjo Catfish-Bunocephalus coracoideus
Whiptail catfish-Hemiloricaria beni
Sturisoma aureum
If you guys think any of these are feasible, please let me know! If not, then I will get a group of cories instead! :)

Hi Nativeguy,

Are you talking about a 20gal wide or a 20gal high? That makes a big difference for ground-dwelling cats.

Cheers, Eric

Sorry for not clarifying, I meant a 20 gallon long.

Sounds like all of them are a viable option. But if you are a novice, maybe B. coracoideus or H. beni. my2¢

I don't know about the whiptails, but I agree the banjos would be fine in the 20gal, at least while they're small and medium-size. But once they mature and reach 4+ inches, they're going to want and need more space, both horizontally and vertically. My banjos come out at night and get very active, swimming up and down the water column and side-to-side.

Cheers, Eric

Thanks! Does anyone have any info on the sturisoma or sturisoma festivum as well? Or any more opinions on the hemiloricaria?
