Sold as "Clown Plec", ID'd as Panaqolus changae - now what?
When I bought this fella, it was labelled as a Clown plec, but tentatively ID's as . Its pattern has developed over the five years I've had it, and now I don't think it looks like either. It's about 3" long, very prickly all over, and the vermiculation seems to increase as it ages. Any ideas?

I don't know, but I think it looks like changae to me. Specifically, I'm looking at the reticulated pattern behind the head. Yes it is more elaborate on your fish than in photos of regular changae, but it is still similar.
Maybe someone else is more familiar with this group and can give insight.
Lovely fish.
Cheers, Eric

He (I assume?) is much closer to the changae than the L448 in breadth of body and shape, but he lost any suggestion of striping in the body very quickly as he matured. It doesn't even come through as night-time/stress colouration.
