ocellifers

Post by Micki »

Hi. I'm new here and I have two petricola catfish, a decorus catfish and will be acquiring three more petricola catfish and two ocellifers on Thursday. They'll be in a 90g.

My question is: will my corydoras be safe when these catfish get bigger? Will the corys just move out of the way during the night when the cats are active? I really like catfish, and I don't want to get rid of the corys. Should I pass on getting the ocellifers? I've only been in the hobby for 2.5yrs and very new with catfish. I've researched them all but I can't get info on them eating corys. Just that they'll eat small fish. My thanks to anyone who knows!

Welcome to the Planet! In general, it seems to me synodontis may prey on tank mates exceedingly rarely, especially if properly fed, and the prey has to be tiny and easy, like 0.5"-1" tetra or guppy. I can't imagine them going after a corydoras.

In my personal experience, my cories have been quite safe with all kinds of sub adult and adult synodontis.
