Synodontis eupterus
Hello again,
I posted the other day about my ‘Synodontis nigriventris‘ which turned out to be eupterus. Turns out the LFS really didnt know what they were talking about. But now I have finally got a picture of my third Synodontis, which as it barely comes out in the day, really is a miracle that I managed to get it. Judging by the dorsal fin and the research I have done. Is neither of said fish! I really feel like i’ve been duped! If anyone could give me any final clarity, that’d be amazing. Thank you so much.

That explains why I see it once a month haha, so I have 2 eupterus’ and 1 Ocellifer in place of 3 10cm fish... thinking i’ll need an aquarium upgrade in a few months haha

Love the ocellifer. You have taken great care of them.
Thank you Birger for that tidbit on the ocellifer. Even though I kept a few, I never noticed... but probably because every tank differs and my 120 gal was densely decorated had a menagerie of fish, including 15 different syno species.

It really is a beautiful fish isn’t it! I never really got to examine it, to say that it was not the fish I thought it was, as it was always in hiding, so when I saw it yesterday morning, I didnt let the oppurtunity slide.

S Ocellifer. Just purchased a small one not too long ago that had been languishing at the LFS for a couple years. Someone had ordered them and never picked them up. There were two for the longest time and I had been told they were bonded so I never purchased them. Well low and behold one day there was only "Ollie" left. Poor little dude is blind in his right eye. But he is doing really well and I am very fond of him. He actually is very active at feeding time, zero fear of my "big guys". Cool fish. Love my synos!

Re: Synodontis eupterus
i've got one in a big tank and the only reason i know i still have him is that i redid the tank a couple of weeks ago and got my annual look at him. doesn't matter some of are just fine being wallflowers and he's welcome to the grub and the space. I bought him because in the local store the people ahead of me were considering and were going to put min in a 20 gallon tall which would not have been good
