Ten new species of Trichomycterus (Trichomycteridae) from Colombia

Post by lfinley58 »

Ardila Rodriguez, C.A. 2018. Ten new species of Trichomycterus fishes for the Andean and Caribean [sic] region - Colombia. Universidad Metropolitana, Barranquilla, Departamento del Atlantico, Noviembre 7 de 2018. No 12: (28 pages plus two).

Sorry, I can't quickly find a way to cut and paste the abstract. But in that the paper is open access, anyone interested can follow the link below. The paper is in Spanish, but there is an English abstract.

The new species are: Trichomycterus wiwa, T. gairaensis T. nabusimakensis, T. valleduparensis, T. sanmartinensis, T. cerritoensis, T. ferreri, T. sucrensis, T. gironensis, and T. colombia.

Ten in one article does save paper. I went trough it, the paper does not tell much about environtental aspects, we would need to know keeping them.

As I highlighted to Erwin Schraml, I have concerns that the names published in this paper are not available because they do not adhere to the Code. It seems that the "journal" may not be a journal, but something that looks to be self-published (like Tyson's 2000 electric catfish paper). I do not know why CoF regards the names previously published in this "journal" as available.
