Agreed, I also have a group of them, some seem to be a similar whiteish silvery colour, some are almost mottled light brown. They were all a silvery colour when purchased.
One thing I'm still not sure about is the black on the tails, some bend upwards as in your picture, and some have a straight black line/patch on the caudal fin. Maybe it's just variable and not significant.
Anyway enjoy them, they are great fun to watch and very active, when they aren't playing dead!

Earlier I took a closer look at mine, the females all appear to be a lighter more uniform silvery colour, and have a more pronounced hockey stick shape to the black tail marking, the same as the one in your picture. Where as the males base colour seems to be more variable and typically mottled light brown, with a mostly straight black marking on the caudal fin.
This is just from my group of 11, so may just be a coincidence!
