Re: Pointpleco's catfish pics
Hi Jools,
Ok, it was sold to me as l377.
They do look very similar. I'm in australia do you think the L448 is here.
I will get some better photos soon. Its hard to see in this pic.
Thanks

Here is a top view, not sure if that helps anymore.
I looked up a list of Plecos in australia and couldn't seem to find the L448's.

Re: Pointpleco's catfish pics
Looks like a male and two females, can we see lateral pics of the male (lowest in the above pic)? L448 is a much more commonly available fish at least globally.

Re: Pointpleco's catfish pics
Yes it's 1 male and 2 female, thats what they were sold as. Male has a very hairy tail and others don't They had been breeding them and each batch had a few albino fry. I can try get a better side on pic tomorrow as they have been hiding alot since i got them. And the male hasn't really left the cave so far. I checked a facebook page from brisbane called Pleco Park and they have a list of available plecos in aus, and the l448 wasn't in there. But the l377 normal and albino was. Not that i'm saying your wrong, i know you know a hell of a lot more than me. I'm just hoping they are l377. Especially because i already have the l104's.
I will upload some more pics tomorrow.
Thanks for your help mate.

Re: Pointpleco's catfish pics
A better pic of the same female, today her colour is a lot lighter. Still can't get the male as he is in the cave. I don't want to stress him while they adapt to their new home. So will just wait till i can see him out for a good pic.

Best pic so far, it's the youngest female. Settling in and starting to show some good colour.
Still can't get a good pic of the male yet.

Re: Pointpleco's catfish pics
The size of the eye on this one bothers me, it looks like it's too big for the Panaqolus I suggested. So, more uncertain what it is. Sorry!pointpleco wrote: 27 Jan 2019, 15:53 Best pic so far, it's the youngest female. Settling in and starting to show some good colour.

And very happy to find some Super red fry, 5 in total.
They are hard to find in australia and go for $50 each at 3cm's.

Re: Pointpleco's catfish pics
And 1 month ago had this little guy appear out of nowhere.
A tiny hi-fin peppered cory.
I had 3 young cories in a community tank and didn't even know they spawned.
I'm sure all the eggs were eaten one night but this one somehow survived and is growing nicely.

My young 7cm peppermints also spawned to my surprise.
I didn't even think they were old enough to and i didn't even think i had a female.
But things look good now.

Terrific. I've heard many times how difficult it is to source a variety of aquarium species in Australia. Good for you.

Re: Pointpleco's catfish pics
Hi Eric,
Yes it is a bit sad that it's like that, but it's the way it is i suppose. And my town adelaide is even harder which makes it worse. My 007's, 377's and 134's all came from melbourne, perth and brisbane. I had to get them flown over here.
Thanks again mate.

Re: Pointpleco's catfish pics
So i was very lucky to get my hands on one of these L101A Red Lizard whiptails. My friend was selling his adult males as he lost his female. Such a nice little catfish, shy and hiding a lot. But he is doing well in my community tank.

Re: Pointpleco's catfish pics
Now this fish is just awesome, i'm led to believe it's a Sturisoma nigrirostrum whiptail. (Correct me if i'm wrong). I got this one at 23cms from my friend with the Red Lizard whiptail.
It was a good day getting 2 great fish. They are both in the same community tank.

Re: Pointpleco's catfish pics
This is the best thing so far i have done in breeding fish. I bought a trio of L377 Prince tigers about 2 months ago and 2 weeks ago they spawned for me. The best part about this is they have the albino gene. So far 10 have come out the cave and i'm sure the dad has more in there as he isn't coming out. In this photo it seems to me i have some albino fry, fingers crossed i'm right.

Re: Pointpleco's catfish pics
My partner and i decided to get a sailfin gibbiceps for our 6 foot tank. This will be our first big fish, and we got it over the weekend. It's a nice little 8cm one to grow out for a long time. once he is bigger he will go into the 6ft tank with a turtle. Of coarse it will be a trial at first and see how they get along together. I have seen it done so i hope it works for us.

A friend was nice enough to give me 2 of these hybrids for my cory tank. Will use for display as they still look very nice even though they are mixed L397 / L002 (I'm pretty sure he said L002). Nice bright orange lines on them.

Re: Pointpleco's catfish pics
I picked up 6x neon green stripe lasers, 1 (the runt) died after a few days but maybe that was due to the shipping. The remaining 5 are doing very well. Such a beautiful fish and i'm loving them. In about another week i will take them out of quarantine and put them into my corydoras tank.
