Hello all,
My friend caught this large male Peckoltia in a creek along the Rio Nanay near Iquitos, Peru. Because of locality, I'm leaning towards but the head's spotting pattern doesn't go back very far on the body, so I wonder about too (although location seems wrong for P. brevis). I've also ruled out because the caudal is unforked, even though the locality is not far off. What do you think?
Thanks in advance,
Eric

I'd say L205 is a pretty good bet.

Agree on L 205, I don't see why we remain so focused on the separation of L 205 and P. brevis though. L 205 is cf. brevis in my opinion and will be brevis if it should ever be looked at more detailed. I'm not referring to this post only, but in general there is a lot of discussion about these two, while in other species colouration, pattern and even morphology are regarded as "variable".
