P.S. In a somewhat sad and indirect way, I can finally say, with tongue firmly planted in cheek, that I've got Rhyacoglanis! From Den Blå Planet, Peter Petersen and his staff sent me tail fin clippings of two wild-caught for us to use in our DNA study of Peruvian . These specimens (along with a fin clip from one of my ) will be featured as outgroups within Pseudopimelodidae.

So while we don't have any actual Rhyacoglanis fish, we do have DNA samples from two specimens. :-) For now, that will need to suffice in my efforts to obtain Rhyacoglanis for my aquaria.

=))

Cheers, Eric

One more reflection on growth since July measurement. Although this month I obtained a 16cm SL for the largest fish, which was the same measurement as that from my July 2024 post, I thought the fish looked bigger now. So here I've juxtaposed the photo from 7 July 2024 against a freeze-frame of the video I made 19 April 2025. I scaled the two images so that the bottom of the bucket in each photo was the same diameter (see black notches added along the border between the two photos). With the photos scaled, i do think the fish are bigger now, although maybe not dramatically so. If anything, I think the smallest fish from before have gotten larger for sure.

Cheers, Eric

Caught one fish in the open this evening. Took two pics, first without flash and second with flash.

Random pics of one fish out in the open this morning. It hasn't yet returned to a hiding place. This is a different fish from the one pictured in my last post.
