Cory ID. Corydoras napoensis?????

Post by Jorge »

Here pics to a Corydoras that I don't identify, cannot find on a quick glance in the Aqualog catalogue. The spot in the dorsal fin it was I don't find in similar species: nanus, elegans, pinheroi, napoensis... and has no the tail pattern and marked spot of C. reticulatus...

any idea on ID?

It's definitely from the Elegans group... Probably C. napoensis at least for the bottom one. :?:

Not sure about the top one though.

Q: How tall is Cartman in real life?

A: Well, Cartman doesn't exist in real life, but if he did he'd be two feet tall.

Thanks, Natalie. Both are the same species... at least same importation, even when I don't know from where...

Thanks Ian; your opinion is very appreciated.

As a curiosity, in the shipment with this group of C. napoensis came this cory, as a contaminant, that I think could be C. polistictus. Any opinion?

i don't think that is a polystictus.. it doesn't have the body shape to fit that cory.. it is still in the elegan family.. looks like it may be a female, as females can look like a total different species in this family of corys.. Ian can u confirm this for me or correct me if i am wrong...

dont think it's a polystitius too. body shape's different.

btw, this particular specimen seems to have a crooked back or something? the back part of the fish doesnt look quite right.

Nice colour though!

Looks like a faint or discolored C. elegans...
