I recently sold all of my fish to my local pet store, and I was looking in to getting some cories. Right now my tank is empty, it has real plants/rocks/sand, but has some algea over everything, particularly the plants (swords). Will cories eat the algea off of the rocks and plants, or will I have to get some other type of scumsucker? What other algea-eaters will be compatible with cories? Thank you in advance,
~Mark

Hi there - no, corys won't eat the algae off the rocks, but the good news is they have lots of friends who will, including otocinclus and bristlenose pl*cos, both of which do a great job. Otos are small, only about 3 cm, and bristlenose don't get much bigger than 15 cm. I like otos because bigger fish have bigger, um . . .
besides which they look nice in groups, and 4 in a 10 gallon even is no problem, as long as they have enough to eat. They will eat all the algae right away, so remember they will need some spirulina or algae wafers too. Have fun!
