Saw this fish in one wholesaler list with a price tag of 980â?¬! Thatwas in Germany so here it could cost nearly 11500-200â?¬ a fish.Is there typing error or does it really cost more than Merodontotus tigrinus? :roll:

that is the correct price.they are very hard to find catfish.my supplier was selling it to me if he catch one he said for $800.00.my supplier has not caugt them in 2 years,so they are very rare. :wink:

Well trained fishermen can catch up to ten per night. This fish is not rare. Just difficult to find because it hides and doesn't move too much This species is not allowed to be exported by IBAMA. Maybe that's why it's so expensive.

Besides this this fish is quite skin sensitive afetr capture. It also eats everything, even fish bigger it's own size. A swallowing machine.
