Wallago with gar?

Post by matongflush »

I am thinking of keeping a wallago attu together with my spotted gar. Both fishes are 2 feet long. Is it advisibe to keep the fishes in a 600 gallon pond?

that gar has a nice, long, thin, snacklike appearance. Once the Wallago passes the 3 1/2 foot mark you'll end up with 1 fish.

Even a 600-gallon pond would be a little crowded for a Wallago attu eventually, not to mention that the Wallago would be the only fish you would be able to keep in there.
Use the space more wisely, unless you absolutely must have a Wallago.

Then, for something more stocky, how about an arapaima co-existing together with the wallago? The tank I am thinking of for both fishes sounds like 2000gallons.

Arapaimas are fish best not kept at all, unless you own a large river.

IIRC, there is an alien population somewhere in south east Asia. Probably ok to take those fish (not that you'd want to).

Heck, I've seen them listed for sale in the US, so there's probably a population in Florida as well.
