OK heres my spotted cory three of them are like the first picture and the one of them is the one in the seccond picture.

I'm not familiar with Corydoras, so I don't know what the corys are. But is that a moray eel's tail in the first picture?

There are some species sold as freshwater, and I think it is one. Not a good tankmate for Corydoras, seeing as how they prefer differant water conditions, as well as the fact that they eat other fish.

A big part in impulse buying is that lfs people dont have a clue what they are selling...imagine youd run a pharmacy like this

not many people would be able to return

back to topic... the images are very blurry so i can tell very well... on the second pic it could be c.schwartzi, but you need to take a better picture...sorry...

I appreciate everyones opinioin...thats why I'm here, but the eel has been in fw for almost 5 years and has been doing great...he wont eat live foods so thats why he is in that tank....the only fish he has eaten of mine was a tiger barb, also he has never touched any of my 6 ottos who are tiny, the barb was not even an inch long when he was eaten, and that was when i frst got the eel. And yes i know the cories dont like salt...but i usually put a table spoon per 10 gallons of water...and it hasnt had any negative side effects with the cories...so obviously someone needs to tell the eel that he cant live in FW because he is and is doing well at a foot and a half and 3/4" diameter.

so unless you are an icthyologist please dont tell me, like you know EVERYTHING, that my eel wont live in FW because he is and has been for a good while, and is doing great.

Oh and thanks Jeff B. and jurrasic_pork for answering my origional question.

oh and heres some reading for you guys:

Sorry if you thought i was telling you how to keep your fish but i was'nt,I just had'nt honestly heard of FW moray and then reading the post that claimed they were brakish..........And no need for thanks with the ID just trying to help

ya the seccond one is definetely C. Leucomelas, but i cant tell if the first one is C. melanistius or C. Surinamensis. What are the main differences??

The pictures won't open for me but the chances of the fish being C. surinamensis are fairly remote as their name would suggest they come from Surinam and as far as I know there are no commercial exporters there.

Have you tried referencing your fish to the ones on my site?

From the pictures on your site, one looks more like C. melanistius due to how the spots are patterned, and not C. leucomelas <--the spots on that one dont look like mine. But the others i swear look the closest to C Surinamensis. Il take some good shots when I get home tonite so ya'll can be sure!!
