Lasiancistrus spec ?

Post by FuglyDragon »

Anyone able to help me out with this fellow, I think he is Lasiancistrus spec , maybe L178 ?

photos on my site here...

Very much like a common ancistrus in appearance, but more laterally flatened and with red eyes on top of head rather than on side. He has fine spots all over head that cover most of body including fins. Tail is very forked, much more so than any other pleco's I have seen, with the top and bottom rays extending in a kind of lyre tail effect, the bottom half of the tail is a deep red color, the top half clear. He / She has no nose whiskers of any sort, but does have feathery like gills hidden under gill plates that he extends occasionally. Likes hiding in dark places inside the hollow log and rarely ventures out before evening. Peaceful with all my other fishes. Also has the quickest breathing rate of any of my pleco's seems to breate at around twice the speed of most of the others. I would dearly love to know what he is just for interest sake, if anyone can id him from my description and photos Id love to hear from you.
