No, they most definitely are not. Just thought you might like to know.

What were you thinking when you were giving the RTC a tankmate? :)
They don't like tankmates.

It actually has two tankmates, a gibbiceps pleco and a Pseudodoras niger.

The gibbiceps is the L196 type with huge fins. It looks a lot bigger than it actually is; maybe confuses the Red tail's radar. And the Red tail's method of assault (attacking the flanks) is a no-no when it comes to a niger.

The barb, though, was definitely a mistake. Everything was fine for the first five minutes....

No serious harm was done because I implemented plan B. The barb (minus a few scales) lives instead with a Synodontis decorus, S. notatus, a pair of Hoplosternum littorale and a Snakeskin pleco (L161).

Good thing you took it out early. I left a largish Mystus singaringan with my Hemibagrus, went away to do something else, and came back ten minutes later to find the Mystus as dead as a doornail.

That would have been the fate of the barb if I left it overnight. I thought it might be so different in appearance that the Red tail wouldn't bother with it.
