I thought it would be interesting to try some Ocean Nutrition 'seaweed selects' for plecos so I bought a pack today- I haven't put any in the tank yet but just wondered if anyone had tried feeding plecos seaweed. I can't imagine there is much seaweed in their natural diet! I'm guessing it will probably appeal to the more vegetarian plecs like panaques but I expect I'll find out......
p.s. just got hold of the updated aqualog 'all L no's'- what a fantastic reference!!
Nori' (aka Sushi wrapper) is the same thing, just MUCH CHEAPER. Just be sure to buy "Japanese Style" and not Korean as Japanese Nori isn't spiced or prepare with salt and oil.
Interests: African catfishes and oddballs, Madagascar cichlids; stoner doom and heavy rock; old school choppers and riding them, fantasy novels, travelling and diving in the tropics and all things nature.

and that IS a major substance in many pl*co-foods.
I can imagine them finding spirulina and other kinds of algae in their natural habitat, but seaweed seemed a little unusual! That said, the folded sheet I put in the tank had dissapeared by the following morning, although the discus all looked quite interested in it. Well, I guess it adds a bit more variety in their diet so its all good.....
